CP awarded an Honourable Mention at the 2026 National Innovation Awards

Digital Green Rail Pass recognised in the “Industry Sector – Utilities, Mobility and Infrastructure” category

CP received an Honourable Mention in the “Business Sector – Utilities, Mobility and Infrastructure” category at the 4th edition of the 2026 National Innovation Awards for its Digital Green Rail Pass project. The award was presented at a ceremony held on 9 July at Nova SBE and represents significant recognition of CP’s commitment to innovation, the digitalisation of services and the promotion of increasingly sustainable mobility.

The National Innovation Award, organised by Jornal de Negócios, Banco BPI and Claranet Portugal, annually recognises projects that stand out for their innovative nature, impact and capacity for transformation. Entries undergo a rigorous evaluation process, which assesses criteria such as the degree of innovation, the technological and organisational approaches adopted, and the results achieved.

The process comprised the project application and evaluation phases, followed by the announcement of the finalists and the awards ceremony.

CP’s inclusion amongst the winning projects highlights the relevance and impact of the solution they developed, amidst a wide range of entries from various sectors of activity.

The Digital Green Rail Pass represents a significant evolution of the Green Rail Pass, enabling customers to benefit from a fully digital experience. The solution incorporates a 100% digital customer card, the purchase and top-up of the pass via the company’s digital channels, and its use directly within the CP App and on the online portal.

Recognised as the first fully digital monthly pass in Portugal, this project is built on a modern technological architecture based on mobile solutions, cloud computing, and integrated digital services, making rail transport easier, more accessible, and more convenient to use.

In addition to technological innovation, the Digital Green Rail Pass has contributed to the digitisation of processes, increased operational efficiency and improved the customer experience, whilst reinforcing CP’s commitment to sustainability and the digital transition.

This Honourable Mention reflects the commitment, expertise and dedication of the teams involved in the design, development and implementation of the solution, demonstrating CP’s ability to create innovative solutions that bring customers closer to rail travel and address future mobility challenges.
