CP launches the second edition of the CPTrainUP trainee programme

Applications for Master’s students and recent graduates are open until 18 September.

CP – Comboios de Portugal has launched the second edition of CPTrainUP, a trainee programme designed to attract, develop and integrate young talent into strategic areas of the company.

Applications are open until 18 September and target 20 master’s students and recent graduates with up to 2 years of professional experience who wish to start their careers at a company that plays a key role in the mobility of millions of passengers and in the transition to a more sustainable transport model.

Lasting 12 months and due to start in January 2027, the programme offers participants a structured induction experience at CP, through involvement in projects with a real impact on the business, exposure to different areas of the company, and close support from mentors and specialist teams.

Throughout the programme, trainees will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the railway sector, familiarise themselves with different facilities and operational areas, develop technical and behavioural skills, and contribute to projects that support the modernisation and development of the railway in Portugal.

The launch of the second edition of CPTrainUP reflects CP’s commitment to consolidating an innovative programme to attract talent; the first edition is now in its final stages and has helped strengthen the link between young people and career opportunities within the company.

As part of the strategy for generational renewal and valuing people, CPTrainUP provides an opportunity to prepare a new generation of professionals, strengthening the skills needed to meet the current and future challenges of the railway sector and ensuring the continuity of knowledge within a company undergoing transformation.

Master’s students and recent graduates in the fields of Management, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems and Law are eligible to apply for this programme.

CP is looking for candidates with a spirit of initiative, a capacity for learning, a passion for teamwork and a desire to contribute to a company that provides an essential transport service for the country.

Participants will receive an internship grant, a meal allowance, occupational accident insurance and free travel on CP trains, amongst other benefits.

Applications are open until 18 September via the recruitment section here.

CP will assess selected candidates throughout the programme, and their participation may lead to future employment at CP, depending on the company’s needs and their demonstrated performance.
