Conclusion of energy efficiency project
Completion of the construction works on the Contumil Central Building
As part of the implementation of Project No. 3783 | Improving Energy Efficiency at CP’s Contumil Building, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) through Investment C13-i02 – Energy efficiency in central government buildings – and following the completion of the construction works, several energy and water efficiency measures were implemented in the Contumil Central Building, aimed at reducing electricity and water consumption and costs.
The work carried out included the installation of solar thermal panels and a new boiler for domestic hot water, photovoltaic panels on a carport structure for self-consumption, presence and motion detectors for lighting control, and systems for managing and monitoring electricity and water consumption, including the installation of an information panel in the building’s lobby, the replacement of light fittings with LED technology, and the replacement and/or optimisation of the flow rate of water fittings (taps and showers).
These measures have raised the building’s energy rating from ‘C’ to ‘A’, with estimated annual savings of over €20,000.00.
This project, the design of which began in 2022, represented a total investment of €277,600.71 (excl. VAT), 100% funded by the RRP and managed by the Environmental Fund, currently part of the Climate Agency, I.P. (ApC).
The implementation of this project marks a crucial moment for the sustainable modernisation of CP’s buildings, reflecting the ongoing commitment to innovation, energy transition and a commitment to sustainable development, in line with the sustainability principles of its Environmental, Quality, Safety and Social Responsibility Policy, which involves:
- An integrated view of social, environmental and economic outcomes;
- A medium- and long-term perspective, focusing on the interests and rights of current and future generations;
- An inclusive action strategy that recognises the need for everyone to be involved in decisions that affect their lives.
