Accident with Intercidades train on the Beira Baixa line

An Intercidades train travelling on the Beira Baixa Line from Guarda to Lisbon collided with a heavy goods vehicle at the Alpedrinha level crossing near Castelo Novo in Fundão today, 18 June at 8 p.m.

After the collision, the vehicle caught fire and spread to one of the train's carriages. At the moment, four people have been identified as slightly injured and were immediately assisted at the scene.

The 118 passengers on the train were promptly removed and are being transferred to buses.
Traffic has been suspended.
