Temporary schedule changes

Given that a red heat alert remains in force until Sunday, with exceptionally high temperatures still forecast across much of the country, CP – Comboios de Portugal believes it should maintain the extraordinary measures adopted to mitigate the impact of the heatwave on its passengers.

Over the weekend, the company will once again implement technical supervision of the services deemed most critical, along with close monitoring of air-conditioning systems; the management of passenger numbers on certain long-distance trains, by suspending the sale of seats on services and at times when temperatures are at their highest; as well as the provision of further information to customers.

The company will also make further temporary adjustments to the service on some Intercidades train services to safeguard the comfort and well-being of customers and staff.

On 4 July and 5 July, the following services will be suspended:

  • IC 513 (Lisbon Santa Apolónia 12.30 p.m. / Guarda 4.44 p.m.), corresponding to IC 517 on Fridays, due to the different stopping pattern;
  • IC 512 (4 July) and IC 516 (5 July) (Guarda 12.48 p.m. / Lisbon Santa Apolónia 5.00 p.m.). (This is the same service, but with a different stopping pattern on Sundays);
  • IC 523 (Lisbon Santa Apolónia 3:30 p.m. / Porto Campanhã 6:43 p.m.);
  • IC 524 (Porto Campanhã 12:45 p.m. / Lisbon Santa Apolónia 4:00 p.m.);
  • IC 572 (Lisbon Oriente 2:02 p.m. / Faro 5:35 p.m.);
  • IC 672 (Faro 2:15 p.m. / Lisbon Oriente 5:56 p.m.).

Affected passengers may request a change or refund for their ticket at no additional cost.

CP will continue to monitor developments, whilst prioritising the safety and comfort of its passengers.
