Senior Technician – Operations Department

Location: Porto (with travel inherent to the role)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Technician to join the Operations Department, contributing to technical monitoring, continuous improvement of operational processes and strengthening Traffic Safety. The role involves analysis, planning, operational management and active participation in strategic working groups.

 

Main Responsibilities

  •  Promote and oversee technical monitoring actions, identifying critical situations and contributing to the improvement and consolidation of technical knowledge in the field of Traffic Safety;
  • Implement Railway Safety actions in line with the policies defined by the Company and the Sector;
  • Analyse regulatory documentation of an operational nature;
  • Identify training needs for operational staff;
  • Monitor overtime and absenteeism, proposing control and optimisation measures;
  • Prepare the necessary details for drawing up schedules and rotations for rolling stock, identifying constraints and ensuring service quality;
  • Prepare and monitor management indicators for the area, ensuring regular communication of operational information to the Planning and Management Support areas;
  • Contribute to the preparation of operating budgets, investments and the activity plan;
  • Participate in working groups and develop technical studies with a view to optimising production models.

 

Mandatory Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Business Management. Advanced proficiency in data manipulation tools and a strong capacity for logical reasoning and algorithmic structuring are mandatory, demonstrated through academic achievement in Statistics, Operational Research, and Data Structures.
  • Experience in academic projects or internships where quantitative models have been applied to solve practical problems is valued.

 

Skills

  • Good computer skills from a user's perspective: Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, among others);
  • Good knowledge of English;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to analyse and synthesise, especially in identifying deviations and formulating corrective proposals;
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork;
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in new contexts;
  • High sense of organisation, rigour and responsibility;

Selection Process

The selection process includes: Psychological assessment, technical knowledge test and interview. Admission depends on the role's physical fitness requirements, as assessed by a medical examination.
