CP at Portugal Smart Cities 2025
Rail mobility as a structuring factor for sustainable cities.
On 4 June, CP participated in the round table discussion ‘Sustainable, Resilient and Inclusive Cities’, part of the Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2025.
At the invitation of ISCTE, CP highlighted the role of railways in sustainable urban mobility, with a focus on metropolitan areas, the simplification of the ticketing system through the implementation of Intermodal Passes (Navegante and Andante), and the increased usefulness of the public transport network, enhanced by reduced costs and ease of access, as factors that have contributed to improving the quality of life in cities.
The presentation highlighted the strategic role of railways in urban transformation, specifically:
- The importance of the Green Pass and intermodal ticketing in encouraging the use of public transport;
- The contribution to environmental sustainability and traffic reduction;
- The reconfiguration of infrastructure with new metropolitan connection routes and increased frequency.
This participation reinforces CP's position as an active agent in innovation and the design of the cities of the future.
