CP increases capacity by more than 50,000 seats for the Popular Saints festivities

Special trains will run on Santo António and São João Days

The Popular Saints, namely Santo António e o São João, attract thousands of people to the cities of Lisbon, Porto, Gaia and Braga. To enable sustainable, practical and safe travel to the festivals and street parties, CP-Comboios de Portugal will run special trains and increase regular services to these four locations. In total, more than 50,000 extra seats will be laid on.

To cater for those attending the festivities in honour of Santo António, which reach their peak on the night of 12 June with the parade of marches on Avenida da Liberdade, CP will increase the regular service on the Sintra Line from 7 p.m. and throughout the night. There will also be 14 special trains during the early hours of 13 June on the Azambuja (Santa Apolónia-Azambuja), Cascais (Cais do Sodré-Cascais) and Sintra (Rossio-Sintra) lines. In total, this corresponds to 21,000 extra seats compared to the regular service.

Those who want to go to the Festas de São João, whose night of 23 June and early morning of 24 June attract thousands to the cities of Porto, Gaia and Braga for concerts and fireworks, will have access to more seats on the regular services of Urbanos do Porto and also on special trains, adding 31,000 seats to the normal offer.

With this offer, CP maintains its commitment to promoting sustainable mobility, helping to make popular festivals more environmentally friendly, while also making it easier to access these events with more timetables and options for returning home safely.
