Guimarães cable car

Gather your family or friends and embark on a train journey to Guimarães, with special discounts on transport and the cable car.

The Guimarães cable car was probably the first one to start working in Portugal, on 11 March 1995, and runs between Guimarães and the Penha mountain where there is a sanctuary dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Penha – where there are restaurants, bars, mini-golf, bike trails walking paths and a magnificent camp site.

Contact the Porto urban train group service to agree on price and booking depending on day and time. *

Groups of 15 or more passengers

Trip price: €3, round trip, per group member (adult or child).
Trips are available any day of the week. Weekends offer full-day availability; on weekdays, some trains during rush hour require advance coordination with group services.
Advance booking is required through the group service at Porto urban trains.

* Please request trips at least:

3 working days in advance - groups of 15 to 50 people;
5 working days in advance - groups of 50 to 100 people:
10 working days in advance - groups of more than 100 people.

We add the following amounts for the cable car to the train ticket prices:

Tickets for the cable car can be purchased from Porto urban train ticket offices.

These discounts apply solely to regular urban train services as shown on the timetable.

Notes:

Ticket offices close 15 minutes before closing time, and we reserve these final 15 minutes for users/visitors who already have a ticket.
The cable car service depends on weather conditions and mandatory maintenance.
