Cascais Line

Changes to train service and replacement bus service

Since 6 April, as the modernisation works progress, the works is focusing on the section between Cascais and Oeiras.

During periods of total closure to traffic a replacement bus service is provided and stops at Monte Estoril, Estoril, São João do Estoril, São Pedro do Estoril, Parede, Carcavelos, Oeiras, Santo Amaro and Paço de Arcos.

The replacement bus service is provided on weekdays between 9.50 pm and 2.35 am the following day, on Saturdays between 8.50 pm and 2.35 am the following day, and on Sundays between 5.30 am and 8.40 am and between 7.50 pm and 2.35 am the following day. 

There will be no changes to train service during other periods.

On 29 March and 12 April (Sundays), train services between São Pedro do Estoril and Cascais will operate on a single track, resulting in changes to timetables and platforms.

Times

-Journey times on the replacement bus service may vary depending on traffic conditions.

- On the Cascais – Cais do Sodré route, connections to scheduled trains at Oeiras station are not guaranteed, except for the last train of the evening.

Bus stops

- The bus stops can also be checked at Customer Assiatance Offices and CP Ticket Offices.

- You must have a valid ticket when boarding the replacement buses.

- Validate your ticket at the validators located at the entrances to the replacement buses. Validation of all passes, season tickets and tickets is mandatory.

Buses operated by CP will be clearly marked and equipped with access ramps for passengers with reduced mobility.

Bicycles and scooters are not permitted on board. Small pets are permitted provided they are transported in a suitable carrier that can be carried as hand luggage.

Group tickets are not accepted on the replacement bus service.

Due to engineering works, train services between São Pedro do Estoril and Cascais will operate on a single track, resulting in the following changes:
 

Train times changes

Different train times will apply on these dates, with some trains starting and ending their journey at São Pedro do Estoril station.

Passengers travelling to São João do Estoril, Estoril, Monte Estoril and Cascais stations are advised to use trains bound for Cascais to avoid having to change trains at São Pedro do Estoril.


Changes to platforms

S. Pedro do Estoril Station

- Access to trains towards Cascais via Platform 1 – sea side

- Access to trains towards Cais do Sodré via Platorm 3 – central

São João do Estoril, Estoril and Monte Estoril Stations

- Access to trains via platform 1 only – sea side.


Check the train times for 29 March and 12 April

Due to engineering works, on Saturday evening (18 April) and early Sunday morning (19 April), train services will be suspended between Cais do Sodré and Caxias. A replacement bus service will operate on the route at the following times:

Departures from Cais do Sodré

  • 21:00, 21:30, 22:00, 22:30, 23:00, 23:30, 00:00, 00:30, 01:00 and 01:30.

Departures from Cascais

  • 20:34, 21:04, 21:30, 22:00, 22:30, 23:00, 23:30, 00:00, 00:30, 01:00 and 01:30.

During this period, trains will run as normal between Cascais and Caxias.

During the daytime on 19 April (Sunday), trains will run as normal with no need for the replacement bus service.

Modernisation works on the Cascais Line, as well as the associated replacement bus service, will resume on the Caxias ⇄ Cascais section on Monday 20 April, from 21:50.

Important information:

  • Connections are only guaranteed for the last train of the night, bound for Cascais.
  • Buses operated by CP are clearly marked. Journey times may vary depending on traffic conditions.
  • The replacement bus service has access ramps for people with reduced mobility.
  • Scooters and bicycles are not permitted. Small pets are permitted provided the animal is transported in a suitable container that can be carried as hand luggage. Group tickets are not accepted on the replacement bus service.
