Procurement of 55 Electric Multiple Units

Modernisation of regional services

The project involves the purchase of 55 Alstom electric multiple units to modernise the regional service provided on the Minho, Beira Alta and Beira Baixa, the North line, the Tomar Branch Line, the Alentejo Line and the Algarve Line, under the Climate Action and Sustainability Programme (PACS).

The multiple units will have a standard capacity of 415 passengers (230 seated and 185 standing) and a maximum capacity of 550 passengers (230 seated and 320 standing).

Total Eligible Cost: €264.8 million

Financial Support from ‘Sustentável 2030’: €44.76 million (given that a funding gap of 98.81% is applied to the total eligible cost, followed by a co-financing rate of 17.11%)
