Take care around trains

When travelling by train, stick to the rules! For yourself and others!

When you get on the train, you're travelling with your parents and friends, but also with other people you don't know! We'd like to remind you of a few rules you should bear in mind when travelling by train to make everyone's journey a pleasant one.

The train seats are for sitting on. The floor is for walking.

Imagine having to sit on a dirty seat because someone put their feet on it. You wouldn't like that, would you? So you know you have to sit on the seats with your legs down and your feet on the floor.

There are special passengers. You could be one of them.

Pregnant women, toddlers, people with disabilities, and the elderly need to be seated while travelling. If the train doesn't have marked seats, you can be a very special passenger if you give your seat or ask your parents to give their seat to one of these people.

Rubbish goes in the bin.

Riding the train is fun. What's not fun at all is tripping over a tin can, slipping on a packet of crisps or even a banana peel. You know you can eat on the train, but always put your rubbish in the small bins on every coach.

Bags and rucksacks go where they belong on the train.

Trains have luggage storage spaces, so you know where to put your bag or rucksack. Just imagine... if you put your rucksack on the seat next to you, you're taking away a much-needed place for someone else to sit. When you get on the train, stow away your bag or carry your rucksack on your lap if it's not heavy.

I like my music.

Tastes are not debatable, so everyone listens to the music they like! Use headphones to listen to your favourite music without disturbing other passengers.
