Come with your group and see how salt is used in making beauty products in the Ria de Aveiro.

Come and discover the ancient and traditional salt activity in Aveiro, on a visit to watch the production of soap, creams and bath salts in the old part of Aveiro, with a view over the canal and ria (estuary).

By recovering old recipes and relaunching memories, Beleza do Sal (Beauty of Salt) is developing a hand-made method for manufacturing cosmetic products that are 100% natural.

Return trip on an urban train from any station to Aveiro + guided tour of the factory: €4,75 per person in the group;
One free tour for every 10 people in the group;
Available for groups of 10 to 50 people;
Book in advance with the Porto urban train group service (at least 5 days in advance).

Payment is made at Porto urban train ticket offices.

How to get there

The Beleza do Sal factory is 1.5 km from Aveiro station.

Along the way you will pass various places of interest such as Aveiro station itself, City and Art Nouveau Museum, Ria de Aveiro/Central Canal, Rossio Garden, Fish market and Botirão bridge.

Visitor information

The school tours include:

History and background to soap manufacturing;
Activity "The soap from my hand” – fill moulds with glycerine – with 1 free bar of soap per pupil that they make themselves;
Demonstration of hand-making 'Sal de Aveiro' soap;

Adult group visits include:

History and background to soap manufacturing;
Hand-made production (Salt soap) versus industrial production (aromatic production) and manufacturing demonstration, with one free soap per visitor;

Duration of the visits: 1 hour;

Visiting days: Monday to Friday, except public holidays;

Visiting hours: 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00
