As of April 25, CP - Comboios de Portugal will implement a new model of railway offer on the Minho Line, following the conclusion of the total electrification of the line.
The new offer is mainly characterised by a reduction in journey times, greater convenience in travel and the elimination of transfers, allowing for a more efficient service along the entire length of the line.
The main changes include:
- Extension of the current Intercidades trains, from Viana do Castelo to Valença;
- Introduction of 2 new InterRegional trains (1 per way) between Coimbra B and Valença;
- Elimination of the replacement service in Viana do Castelo, in the Nine/Valença section;
- Reinforcement of regional trains between Viana do Castelo and Valença at weekends.
The new supply model seeks to meet the mobility needs of the population, in an area of the country characterised by intense economic activity and by several centres of secondary and higher education.
