As per the scenario of gradual recovery of Portugal’s economy, CP – Comboios de Portugal will reinforce its offer of Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains from May 31, 2020. With this reinforcement, CP’s offer of Long Distance trains will include around 75% of that registered before the pandemic period.
The Intercidades trains are replaced at 100% on most routes, namely Lisbon – Faro, Lisbon – Évora, Casa Branca – Beja, Lisbon – Viana do Castelo, Lisbon – Guimarães, fulfilling the regular offer that was in force before the beginning of the pandemic.
The routes Lisbon – Guarda and Lisbon – Covilhã are assured by two Intercidades, by direction.
There are also 10 daily Alfa Pendular train connections, including two direct connections between Porto and Faro.
CP will monitor daily the demand for these services to introduce possible changes or capacity reinforcements, whenever the evolution of demand justifies it. Capacity control will continue to be ensured by limiting the seats available for sale.
The company will keep the operation of disinfecting the trains in service, which is carried out daily in several locations throughout the country. Since March 17, more than 34,600 railway vehicles have been disinfected, an average of more than 500 per day.
CP alerts its customers to the need to comply with DGS recommendations during their journeys, in an essential contribution to contain the transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
