The Historical Train is back to Vouga – Starting on June 30th

Following its success in 2017, the Vouga Historical Train is back to railways every Saturday between June 30th and October 13th, …

… also operating on Sundays this year, between July 15th and August 26th, in a total of 23 travels.

This old train composition, comprising three wooden carriages from the early 20th century, pulled by a diesel locomotive from 1964, and that preserves all the original characteristics of its time, is coming back to travel the Vouga Line, between Aveiro and Macinhata do Vouga, in an unique touristic journey.

The Vouga Historical Train leaves the Station of Aveiro at 01:40 p.m. and returns from Macinhata do Vouga at 04:25 p.m.. There is enough time along the way to visit the city of Águeda, the Museum Centre of Macinhata do Vouga, enjoy the entertainment available on board the train, and taste regional products.

The price for this trip is 30 euros for adults and 16.50 euros for children (from 4 to 12 years old) and may be purchased together with the Douro Historical Train travel, benefiting from a 25 per cent discount in each journey (in a total of 54.50 euros for adults and 27 euros for children).

Long-distance travels in Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, and Regional services (whose destination and origin is the Station of Aveiro) and purchased simultaneously with the Vouga Historical Train benefit from a 30 per cent discount, and round-trips in the Urban trains of Oporto benefit from the unique price of 2 euros.

Similarly to 2017, the Vouga Historical Train is the result of a partnership between CP-Comboios de Portugal, the City Council of Águeda, and the Parish Council of Macinhata do Vouga, all of whom contributed to its fulfilment.
