Bikes and scooters
  • Apart from to the specific conditions for each service, bicycles and scooters on CP trains must comply with the following conditions:
  • Bikes and scooters are carried free of charge.
  • Each passenger may only take one bicycle or scooter;
  • Passengers are responsible for taking the bikes or scooters on and of the trains and for storing them properly on board;
  • Passengers are liable for any damage their bicycles or scooters cause other passengers and/or to CP equipment and facilities;
  • Passengers are liable for their bicycle or scooter and CP is not liable for any damage or theft.
  • Bicycles and scooters must be transported in such a way that they do not obstruct doorways or seating areas and do not hinder the doors;
  • Passengers may not ride bicycles or scooters in carriages/trains, stations, concourses and subways;
  • Transport is authorised only on permitted services and in carriages identified for this purpose;
  • Electric bicycles (with a maximum continuous power of 0.25 kW) are permitted, provided that they resemble a traditional bicycle n size/occupied space (not considering the battery).
  • Transport may only be carried out under normal traffic conditions, excluding road transfers and other situations that may limit the provision of this service.

You can also leave your bike at any of the bike parks.

Bikes and scooters can be taken as long as they are folded or disassembled so that they can be carried as hand luggage, packed in the available luggage space.

Transport on racks
Bicycles weighing up to 15kg can be transported mounted on the available carrier hooks. 
If a passenger wishes to use these racks, they must: 

  1. book seats 15 or 17 in the 2nd class carriages of the Intercidades trains on the Lisbon - Braga - Lisbon, Lisbon - Valença - Lisbon, Lisbon - Guimarães - Lisbon and Lisbon - Porto - Lisbon routes;
  2. book seats 12 and 18 in the 2nd class carriages of the Intercidades trains on the Lisbon - Guarda, Lisbon - Évora and Lisbon - Faro routes.

Transport as hand luggage
Applies to bicycles weighing more than 15kg and scooters. It also applies to bicycles weighing 15kg or less when the carrier hooks are no longer available. 
Bicycles and scooters must be folded or dismantled so that they can be carried as hand luggage and stowed in the available luggage space in the luggage racks or under the seats.
 

Bicycles and scooters are subject to the availability of space on the train, so before boarding, you should contact the ticket inspector, who will say whether or not the bikes are allowed onboard, taking into account the limitations at the time. 
Transport is permitted except on the following trains and during the following periods:

  • Tomar / Lisbon - All trains - From 06:00 to 09:00 - Weekdays;
  • Lisbon / Tomar - All trains - From 16:00 to 19:00 - Working days.

North Line 

  • Porto Campanhã / Lisbon - train 820 - Sunday;
  • Aveiro / Coimbra-B - train 4654 - Weekdays;
  • Coimbra-B / Aveiro - train 4623 - Friday;
  • Coimbra-B / Aveiro - train 4625 - Weekdays.

Vouga Line 

  • Aveiro / Águeda - trains 5103, 5115 and 5117 - Weekdays;
  • Águeda / Aveiro - trains 5104, 5106, 5112 and 5116 - Weekdays;
  • Espinho / Oliveira Azeméis - train 5210 - Monday and Saturday;
  • Espinho / Oliveira Azeméis - train 5212 and 5214 - From 01/06 to 31/10 - Daily.
  • Oliveira Azeméis - Espinho - train 5207 - From 01/11 to 31/05 - Monday and from 01/06 to 31/10 - Daily;
  • Oliveira Azeméis - Espinho -train 5203 and 5205 - 01/06 to 31/10 - Daily.

Bicycles must be transported in the carriages and places identified for this purpose.

Bikes and scooters are allowed every day without time restrictions, on all Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra urban train lines in accordance with the general conditions.

  • Transport is subject to prior reservation of the space at the time of ticket purchase. 

Folded or dismantled and packed bicycles

  • Carried as hand luggage, with maximum dimensions of 120 x 90 x 40 cm.
