Almond Blossom Circuit

Come to the Douro region by train in Schindler carriages with a superb view of the almond trees.

A magnificent journey, between Porto and Pocinho, in Schindler coaches with panoramic windows, where the green scenery of the Douro landscape is punctuated by the colourful almond trees, on a journey through local history and traditions, with a visit to the Côa Museum.

In this edition you can choose between two programmes, one of which includes lunch at the Côa Museum Restaurant.

  • 7:25: Departure from Porto Campanhã on InterRegional train 861; 
  • 10:48: Arrival in Pocinho and bus journey to the Côa Museum; 
  • 11:30 / 12:30: Start of the guided tour of the Côa Museum, one of Portugal's largest museums, which celebrates the meeting of the region's two world heritage sites: the Prehistoric Art of the Côa Valley and the Douro Wine Landscape; 
  • 12:30 / 14:00: Lunch at the ‘Côa Museum Restaurant’*; 
  • 14:00 / 16:45: BUs journey to Foz Côa - where you can enjoy free time to visit the Almond Blossom Festival, the oldest and most emblematic festival in the municipality. Bus journey to Castelo Melhor with a guided tour of the almond grove. Return to Pocinho railway station. An almond sweet and a bottle of water will be handed out at the Tourist Office located at the station; 
  • 17:12: Board the IR 876 train bound for Porto. 

*Menu: 

  • Starters: Bread, regional sliced meats (ham, salpicão, chouriça, regional cheeses and olives), Mushrooms w/ asparagus and Mushrooms stuffed with alheira sausage and cheese; 
  • Main course: Côa Museum veal steak with apples in Port, accompanied by mashed potatoes with greens; 
  • Dessert: Almond cake with dried fruit ice cream or fruit; 
  • Drinks: water, juices, beer, Douro Superior white and red wines, and coffee. 

Note: On the outward journey, the train has a cafeteria and bar service in its own carriage.
