See all the different kinds of Passes for daily travel on the Lisbon Urban Trains

Customers who travel daily on the Lisbon Urban Trains have three types of monthly passes:

  • The CP Pass, valid for 1 or 2 zones, loaded onto the Lisboa Viva card or onto the CP card;
  • The Navegante Metropolitano that allows to travel in all carriers within the geographical limit of the 18 Municipalities of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (Alcochete, Almada, Amadora, Barreiro, Cascais, Lisbon, Loures, Mafra, Moita, Montijo, Odivelas, Oeiras, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira) loaded onto the Lisboa Viva card;
  • The Navegante Municipal that allows to travel in all carriers within the geographical limit of the municipality for which it is acquired, loaded onto the Lisboa Viva card;

The electronic loading of the tickets on the Lisboa Viva card can be made at the ticket offices, ticket vending machines and ATM. The electronic loading of the tickets on the CP Card can be made at the ticket offices and ticket vending machines.

If passengers wish to travel beyond the limits of their ticket, they must buy the ticket route difference from a ticket office or from a ticket vending machine located at the departure station.

Whenever you travel, validate your ticket. Validation of all passes and tickets is required before boarding the train. Anyone who does not validate their tickets or passes after October 1, 2015, may be fined. Further details here.

Keep your receipt so long as the pass or ticket is valid.

CP Services: Lisbon urban trains

What is it: Passes are transport tickets valid for an unlimited number of journeys over a specific CP route, for as long as the pass is valid. If you have a Lisbon Urban Train monthly pass, you just need to travel 11 days and you are already ahead. The CP 30-day pass can be purchased any day of the month and is valid for 30 days immediately after the date it was sold or chosen to start being valid (up to 8 days after). The Navegante Metropolitano pass is a fixed-month pass (valid for the month for which it is bought), which allows to travel on all companies of the public passenger transport service in all 18 municipalities of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.

The municipalities included in the Lisbon Urban Trains are: Alcochete, Almada, Amadora, Barreiro, Cascais, Lisbon, Loures, Mafra, Moita, Montijo, Odivelas, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira.

In CP, the Navegante Metropolitano can be used on the Lisbon Urban Trains and Regional trains in the lines of Sintra, Cascais, Sado and Cintura; on the Azambuja/Norte line only to the Carregado Station (inclusive); on the Oeste Line only to the Jerumelo Station (inclusive);

In case you want to travel beyond the validity of the Navegante Metropolitano pass on the Azambuja Line, you can purchase the CP Azambuja Carregado Add-on. Check the conditions.

The tickets include an electronic loading onto the Lisboa Viva Card and can be purchased from 4:00 on the 26th of each month, until 3:59 on the 26th of the following month from the ticket offices, Ticket Vending Machines and ATMs. On the Portal Viva website, the tickets are sold from 4:00 on the 21st of each month until 3:59 on the 21st of the following month.

5) Valid for children up to 12 years old (inclusive). In order to travel, the child must have a Lisboa Viva card with a children profile:

  • If you already have a Lisboa Viva card with a children profile, you shall go to a Customer Support Office (Rossio or Cais do Sodré) to be charged free until the card has expired.
  • If you do not have a Lisboa Viva card with a children profile, you can request its issuance from a CP ticket office. Further details here.

 

Transition period:

For customers with a flexible pass that ends after April 8, a 7-day Metropolitan pass costing €10 will be on sale from the ticket offices. This pass can be renewed for a new period of 7 days until April 30. To buy this pass, you need to present the purchase receipt of the previous ticket.

The customer may choose to immediately purchase the new available tickets.

The Navegante Municipal pass is a fixed-month pass (valid during the month for which it is acquired), which will allow you to travel on all companies of the public passenger transport service within the geographical area of one municipality – the municipality for which it was acquired – chosen from the 18 municipalities encompassed by the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.

The municipalities included in the Lisbon Urban Trains are: Amadora, Barreiro, Cascais, Lisbon, Loures, Mafra, Moita, Oeiras, Palmela, Setúbal, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira.

The Navegantes Alcochete, Almada, Montijo, Odivelas, Seixal and Sesimbra are sold at the CP ticket offices but are not valid for CP routes.

In the CP, the Navegante Municipal can be used on the Lisbon Urban trains and Regional trains, within the geographical limit of the municipality for which it was acquired.

There are 3 CP stations encompassed by 2 municipalities, so that the customers can choose to acquire the most advantageous one:

  • Algés - station valid for Navegante Oeiras or Navegante Lisboa
  • Moscavide and Sacavém - stations valid for Navegante Loures or Navegante Lisboa

The tickets include an electronic loading onto the Lisboa Viva Card and can be purchased from 4:00 on the 26th of each month, until 3:59 on the 26th of the following month from the ticket offices, Ticket Vending Machines and ATMs. On the Portal Viva website, the tickets are sold from 4:00 on the 21st of each month until 3:59 on the 21st of the following month.
