Grape harvest in the Douro

I’m going by train to the Grape Harvest Festival at Quinta da Avessada, on the 22 and 29 of September.

When arriving at the Pinhão Station, we have a bus transfer that will take us to Quinta da Avessada, where we will be received in a festive atmosphere, with popular music and a few treats from the region, such as: the traditional bread and bola de carne (a type of bread stuffed with meat). There is muscatel for the adults!
I have already planned everything with my friends and we will take part in the grape harvest. Each of us will be given a bucket and scissors. Provided with tools and some recommendations, we begin the grape harvest … A festivity!
In the afternoon, we will visit the mills and I believe we can take part in the grape-stomping, always in a festive atmosphere, with traditional songs from the Douro.
Did you know that wine from the Douro is so good that it has gained a ton of national and international awards? It’s true. Sometimes, during family dinners, I hear my dad and grandad saying wine from the Douro is amongst the best in the world.

Consult the program, come along!
