Easter in Braga is a Festival

The traditions come out into the streets in the city of customs and religion.

It's 9:30 and I can't keep my eyes off the clock. Luís has the ability to be late wherever he is and today we have to go and meet our friend Anthony at Santa Apolónia station to go to Braga! Anthony is over here from England on holiday and we are making the most of the time of year to take him to see the religious customs of Easter Week in the city that takes this tradition into the streets.

We arrive at the station and see Anthony near the boarding platform when Luis asks “Ana, where do we buy the tickets?” Doesn't he know that with the CP App I can choose our journeys, the seats and buy the tickets there and then? I don't need to get up off the sofa.

But the best is still to come… it seems we are going to Braga on the new Alfa Pendular!!! “If the journey begins like this, I'm sure everything is going to go smoothly”, Anthony said and I could only agree with him.

We make the most of the 3 hours 25 minutes of the journey to prepare our visit to the city for these days. AsBraga is one of the oldest Christian cities in the world, it has a huge religious heritage. We can visit the Santuário do Sameiro, the Chapel of São Frutuoso and Braga cathedral is obviously a must. We also want to watch the Procession of the Burial of the Lord with figures that attract more and more people to Braga!

I look at my watch again, calmer this time and notice we still have an hour before we arrive. I look at Luís and Anthony who are relaxing in their seats plating on their phones and ask “Do0es anyone fancy having a coffee in the bar?” (I was curious to have a walk along the train!!).

We were sitting at the counter when I decided to send an email to our hotel... fortunately the CP/Basic Braga by AXIS partnership means we don't just save on the train, but also on our stay!
Now I am really enjoying this break from the daily routine and concentrate on just one thing: the place where we are going to enjoy a really good typical meal in Minho style
