Faia Brava

An ecological train journey along the Beira Alta line to discover a nature refuge.

The Faia Brava Reservation is the first private protected area in Portugal hidden away in the steep-sided Côa valley. Here there is space for nature and wild life, large rock-dwelling birds choose this site for nesting - eagles, griffon vultures and Egyptian vultures. There are herds of semi-wild horses and local cattle and a huge range of plants and animals to discover.

The 850 hectares of Faia Brava have been a site to demonstrate forestry protection, environmental education and eco-tourism, purely to protect nature and implement ecological restoration actions.
