On November 23, the State Secretary for Planning and Infrastructures, CP and Infraestruturas de Portugal met with the local authorities of Alijó, Baião, Carrazeda de Ansiães, Mesão Frio, Peso da Régua, Santa Marta de Penaguião, São João da Pesqueira and Vila Nova de Foz Coa, of the region affected by the temporary suspension of the train services between Caíde and Marco de Canaveses, for an estimated time period of three months.
The meeting, which took place at the São Bento Station, in Porto, aimed to present and discuss the mobility solutions foreseen for this period of time and make adjustments to improve the offer planned.
CP guaranteed to the local representatives that the offers and timetables now in force would be reinstated, after the line reopening.
At the stretch Marco de Canaveses to Pocinho – which will be isolated from the remaining railway network during the works – the railway connections will be carried out in trains consisting of locomotives and carriages, using material which for the past two years has already ran on the Douro Line, particularly in the Miradouro train.
A commitment was made among all those present to keep the dialogue, throughout this period, in order to continuously monitor the possible needs for adjustments to the mobility solution implemented.
