CP - Comboios de Portugal continues to invest in modernising public rail services, promoting digitalisation, intermodality, and continuous improvement of the customer experience throughout the country.
The transformation of sales channels, with implementing a new generation of Ticket Vending Machines in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area network, is extremely important for giving our customers greater autonomy, avoiding queues and facilitating access to essential services.
The more than 300 machines currently being implemented offer a significant evolution in the features available to customers. They represent more than 50% of sales transactions in Lisbon's urban services, reflecting their importance and high impact on the customer experience.
With the increase in the number of machines, CP—Comboios de Portugal intends to double its offer of Ticket Vending Machines in Lisbon's urban transport system, reaching around 70% of transactions through these machines.
More services, more integration, more coverage
This strategic project for CP stems from the need to modernise the sales infrastructure, improve the customer experience, and promote greater integration between the different services - urban, Regional, and Long Distance - as well as access to intermodal tickets, such as the Navegante Pass and the Green Rail Pass.
The project to replace and reinforce the 157 Ticket Vending Machines installed in 2010 will result in a total of 308 machines, offering customers new features, including:
- Sale of tickets for all CP services: Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, Regional, Inter-Regional and Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra urban services;
- Purchase of passes: Navegante, Urban and Regional Season Tickets and Green Rail Passes;
- Reservation of discounted tickets, including those associated with the Green Rail Pass;
- A modern interface with options in various languages, promoting a better user experience and greater accessibility;
- Payments with MBway and contactless technology, facilitating faster, more secure purchases.
The contract signed by CP – Comboios de Portugal was supported by the European programme MOBIL.T – Mobility and Ticketing for Multimodal Transport in Lisbon.
The 308 machines are being installed on the main lines in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area - the Sintra, Cascais, Azambuja, Sado, Oeste, and Alentejo lines - and at Vendas Novas station. To date, 278 machines are already in operation, representing 90% of the total planned.
CP – Comboios de Portugal is committed to modernising its services and continuously improving the customer experience.
