The “Público” newspaper reported a news today under the title “CP Manager fired for disagreeing with a decision jeopardising the railway safety”. Given the content of the reported news, CP hereby declares:
That the maintenance and repair projects of the rolling stock of CP comply with technical opinions and decisions which, in permanent contact with the manufacturers, ensure the railway safety standards.
Particularly, concerning the maintenance cycle of the UTE 2240 units, the technical opinions of the Rolling Stock Management of CP and EMEF (Main Portuguese Company in the Railway Maintenance Sector) were naturally consistent and supported the decision of CP’s Board of Directors, having concluded that this change does not jeopardise the project or passenger’s safety.
It is also worth mentioning that the dismissal of CP’s rolling stock manager is not connected with such decisions but merely with the non-verification of objective conditions for the performance of his duties.
