Communiqué

CP – Comboios de Portugal regrets the serious disruption and impact that the ongoing strikes are causing to the daily lives of all its passengers. The Board of Directors is aware of the severity of the damage that these stoppages are causing to the hundreds of thousands of people who use the train as a means of transport in their daily commutes.

Since the Arbitration Court of the Economic and Social Council has not decreed minimum services for the strikes called by various trade unions, which seriously compromises the public interest and disproportionately penalises citizens, affecting access to work, health and education, CP has appealed to the Lisbon Court of Appeal, contesting this decision.

To reach an agreement, CP has made every effort with the supervisory authority to present the unions with a proposal to restructure the wage scales of €5.75 million, the maximum amount that can be accommodated within the legal limits of a caretaker government, which was not accepted.

CP reaffirms its commitment to its employees and is fully available to continue the salary restructuring process as soon as all conditions are met.

CP reiterates its ongoing commitment to providing safe, high-quality service and trains that meet passengers' needs.
