The Cherry Blossom Circuit is back at CP on 24 and 31 March and 7 April

CP-Comboios de Portugal is once again running its Cherry Blossom Circuit on Saturdays 24 and 31 March and 7 April.

The one-day programme takes visitors up to Beira Baixa on an Intercidades train so they can appreciate the countryside and the local cuisine.

The journey starts from Lisbon’s Santa Apolónia station, where passengers leave at 08:15 and arrives in Fundão at 11:42.

After a reception in the station, the trip continues with a guided tour of the old town centre of Fundão and the discovery of some manor houses and small palaces. There is a visit to the Rye Milling Interpretation centre and the José Alves Monteiro Archaeological Museum, one of the region’s most important museums.

One of the high points of the day comes after lunch aboard the Fundão town hall road train with the passengers appreciating the cherry trees in bloom on the Serra da Gardunha hills. There is also a tasting event back at the tourist office and the chance to buy some local products.

The train back to Lisbon leaves Fundão at 18:46.

The return price offers 40% off the normal adult ticket and 5% off a child’s ticket.
