Change of offer as of May 4 – COVID-19 Contingency Plan - CP

Emergency to State of Calamity by the Portuguese Government, from May 4, 2020 onwards, CP’s offer will be changed.

The offer of urban and regional trains will be resumed at 100%, complying with the regular offer that was in force before the beginning of the pandemic situation.

In Long Distance, Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains, considering that the duty of confinement and that telework is still advised, CP will maintain the supply that has been in force since March 25, monitoring the demand for these services, in order to introduce eventual changes whenever the evolution of demand justifies it. In these trains, the control of the capacity will also be maintained through the sales systems, making available only two thirds of their total capacity.

CP will maintain the ample operation of sanitation and disinfection of the trains in service – operation which has already covered, in the last month, more than 14,100 interventions in its fleet. The Contingency Plan remains in force in all its aspects, namely in the distribution of workers’ individual protection equipment, sanitation of spaces and work and the safety conditions of work in accordance with the recommendations of the Directorate-General of Health.

The access control system in the station (gates) and the entrances/exists through the compulsory validation of the transport ticket will be resumed. However, taking into account the eventual need of loading or acquisition of transport tickets by customers, CP will observe some tolerance on May 4.

CP alerts the customers to the need to comply with the confinement rules, as an essential contribution to avoid the transmission of the virus and contain the expansion of the COVID-19 disease.
