CP Trainee Program welcomes 40 Trainees
The company aims to upskill future generations in the rail sector
October marked the launch of the CP TrainUP 2025/2026 Programme at CP – Comboios de Portugal (Portuguese Railways). In total, 40 recently graduated young people were selected for this paid professional internship programme, which aims to offer solid training and a genuine opportunity for integration into the company.
The project operates under the motto "Elevate Your Future" and signals the reinforcement of CP’s commitment to training, talent valuation, and the upskilling of future generations of professionals in the rail sector.
For the young people, who have been placed in strategic areas of the company, TrainUP represents a gateway to a key sector of the Portuguese economy—mobility—allowing them to apply academic knowledge and develop new skills. For CP, the programme makes it possible to identify and retain highly motivated talent and to strengthen its organisational culture.
Real-World Learning
The TrainUP is a 12-month internship programme, aimed at young people who completed their higher education a maximum of two years ago, and who have little or no professional experience. Participants were placed in various CP units, located in Lisbon, Porto, and Entroncamento, in areas related to Management, Engineering, Information Technology/Mathematics, Architecture, Marketing/Digital, and Law.
The internship is paid and includes a meal allowance, personal accident insurance, and benefits associated with mobility, such as CP travel vouchers for commuting.
The trainees will have access to theoretical and practical training in areas such as innovation, cybersecurity, ethics, and sustainability, among others. They will be involved in real and strategic projects for the future of sustainable mobility and will benefit from specialised mentorship, with support from experienced professionals.
CP believes that this experience will contribute to the personal and professional growth of the interns, as well as the rejuvenation of a company focused on contributing to modernisation and innovation in the sector.
