CP Volunteer Team
CP helps REFOOD
On 20 May, the Corporate Volunteering team at CP—Comboios de Portugal once again showed its spirit of solidarity by participating in another mission with the REFOOD centre in São Sebastião da Pedreira, Lisbon. The centre currently supports 43 families, totalling more than 100 people.
This involved the dedication of several CP volunteers who joined the organisation's efforts to combat food waste and support those most in need.
Thanks to the daily commitment of volunteers like ours, surplus food can be recovered from various sources, providing essential support to many families.
This is one way CP reinforces its commitment to the community, promoting a model of active and responsible citizenship.
These efforts are equally crucial for the benefits they offer our employees, such as contributing to a more supportive organisational culture and developing social and human skills, as demonstrated by employee Sofia Pinto:
"It was thanks to participating in one of the volunteer initiatives organised by Social Responsibility, I learnt about the REFOOD project. Participating in volunteer initiatives has always appealed to me, but until then, I had only done so occasionally.
I had wanted to volunteer more consistently for a long time, and after taking part in the REFOOD initiative through CP, I felt that this was the opportunity I had been looking for. I can say that on that same day, I looked for REFOOD centres closer to where I live and sent an email to apply.
I was contacted the following week, attended the preparation session, and started volunteering once a week that same week.
I love it. The team is fantastic, and above all, it's three hours during which I feel the greatest joy in giving my time to help others.
I highly recommend it!!!"
