15th General Assembly of the Advisory Council for People with Specific Needs

3 December – International Day of Persons with Disabilities

On this symbolic day, CP highlights its commitment to inclusive mobility and gives visibility to the conclusions of the 15th General Assembly of the Advisory Council for People with Specific Needs (CCPNE), held on 28 November. The session was chaired by CP Chair Pedro Moreira and attended by Board Director Filipa Ribeiro, the Advisor for Customers with Specific Needs Diogo Martins, and representatives of the main entities and associations linked to accessibility, including Associação Salvador.
Created in 2010, the CCPNE includes, in addition to CP, various entities and associations, such as ACAPO, ADFA, APD, APS, CNOD, Fundação LIGA, INR, Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) and ANMP, maintaining a permanent dialogue to find more inclusive and effective solutions.

Main measures and projects presented:

  • Acquisition of 117 new electric railcars, complying with European accessibility standards (wheelchairs, adapted toilets, contrasts), with the first units expected in 2029;
  • Acquisition of 22 Regional Units, with extendable ramps at all doors, expected to enter service next year;
  • Enhancement of the safety of the ramps on the 3500 series multiple units (Lisbon Urban Trains);
  • New accessible CP app and website, with application for Silver Seal certification;
  • Commitment to improve the Integrated Mobility Service (SIM);
  • Commitment to improve training in customer service and interaction with customers with specific needs;
  • Commitment to strengthen the partnership with Infraestruturas de Portugal to improve station accessibility.
