More seats available on urban services in Porto and Lisbon to facilitate Christmas travel.

CP – Comboios de Portugal will increase the number of seats available on regular urban services in Porto and Lisbon during the Christmas period to meet the typical increase in demand during this time of year. The goal is to provide customers with a safe and sustainable travel experience, encouraging the choice of rail transport for leisure trips, shopping, and participation in Christmas events.

Starting from the last weekends of November, with the inauguration of the Christmas lights in Lisbon and Porto, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, more than 133,000 additional seats will be available – approximately 69,000 seats on Porto's urban trains and 64,400 seats on the Sintra Line in Lisbon – with reinforced trains to ensure greater capacity.

CP thus reinforces its commitment to green mobility, offering a practical alternative to individual transport, reducing traffic and CO2 emissions in cities. The affordable prices and easy access to the main commercial areas make the train the ideal option to experience the magic of Christmas in Porto and Lisbon.

Christmas is traditionally associated with family trips to large urban centers, mainly for gift shopping or outings with children to places with entertainment, with cities focusing on music and lighting, shows, sporting events, and traditional fairs and markets.
