Communiqué
In the context of the strike called by the a union (SFRCI), CP – Comboios de Portugal believes it is necessary to clarify the issues raised and reinforce its commitment to its employees and passengers.
CP recognises the right to strike, a constitutional right, but regrets that it was announced based on arguments that do not reflect the reality of the facts.
CP's Board of Directors categorically denies that there is any train circulation that jeopardises the safety of its employees and customers. All maintenance interventions on rolling stock are scrupulously executed by the company, and all inspection plans are complied with in accordance with the Maintenance Manual. CP relies on competent maintenance teams who are dedicated and committed to the safety of customers and all employees.
CP recognises that the challenge of reinforcing its human resources is permanent, requiring successive recruitment drives, as well as the respective training courses. In 2025, 28 review and sales operators were hired, and a further 21 employees are expected to be added during the month of November.
Regarding the service rosters for review and sales operators, CP states that the existing agreement is being fully complied with, with the adjustments demanded having been implemented in May 2025.
CP remains committed to improving working conditions and the service provided to its customers and remains available to dialogue with all union organisations to ensure solutions that benefit its employees and its customers, reiterates the company's Board of Directors.
