Douro Historical Train

Travel back in time. The Douro Historical Train runs between July and October.

Travelling on the Douro Historical Train is to take a trip back in time. The journey follows the banks of the River Douro. The steam locomotive and the 5 historical carriages run between Régua and Tua on a unique journey into the past, marked by the beauty of the landscape classified as UNESCO World Heritage.

Here, you can see the Douro journey and Aboard the Douro Historical Train - in the 'Viajar entre Viagens' blog and the YouTube CP  Historical Train on the Douro.

Note: As soon as possible we will publish information about the next edition.

This one-day programme leaves Régua at 15:30 and returns at 18:26, stops in Pinhão, and continues to Tua before turning back.

During the trip, there will be entertainment and gifts.

At Pinhão, you can watch CP 0186 steam locomotive, built in 1925, being filled with water. You may also admire the famous tile panels decorating the walls of the station, depicting the landscape and the life of the people of the Douro, with images of Port production, grape picking and wine being taken downstream in rabelo boats. On the return trip, take the opportunity to visit the Wine House in the station, where you can buy typical regional products.

At the Tua Station, while the steam locomotive is turned around, relax, admire the landscape and visit the place.
