New rules regarding ticket purchase - Data Protection General Regulation

Within the scope of protection and security measures for passengers carrying out international journeys, CP informs that tickets for the Celta train will become nominal, so at the time of purchase customers will have to provide the following personal data:

  • Identification document number
  • Name and surname
  • Telephone number

The sale of tickets for international trains is carried out through a system of sales and under the exclusive management of SPANISH RAILWAYS (RENFE).

Although the purchase of tickets can be made from a CP sales station, the personal data is provided by the Holder directly to Renfe, with no personal data remaining in CP's possession, and therefore no data is transferred between the two railway companies.

The basis for the legitimacy of the collection and processing of personal data collected by Renfe is the Royal Decree-Law no. 21/2020, of June 9th, which regulates urgent measures of prevention, containment and coordination to deal with the health crisis caused by COVID-19. This Royal Decree-Law forces passenger transportation companies – with seat reservations – to collect contact information from all passengers in order to provide these lists to public health authorities, when necessary, for tracking purposes.
