Sustainability Report

As a company operating all across the country, its social, economic and environmental impact is highly relevant.

Concerning the revitalisation of our position in the market as a sustainable and socially responsible company, we established three challenges with the participation and involvement of our employees to be achieved by 2010: to be a reference in the railway transport market, improve our results and increase added value for customers, shareholders and employees.

The strategy focused on continuing to create value for the company, ensuring transport by means of a heavy rail transport, maximising the use of the network and the electric rolling stock (more affordable and environmentally friendlier).

Report

In 2016, CP-Comboios de Portugal, the natural heir of a 160-year old heritage, proudly celebrated this symbolic date, remaining faithful to its commitment to promote sustainable mobility by providing a transport service of universal access with increasing quality, suited to market needs.

Report

We have focussed mainly on economic sustainability, while not ignoring our social and environmental responsibilities, in line with our stakeholders' expectations.

Report

CP plays an important role in mitigating climate change as any train with just an average occupancy rate replaces many road vehicles or even planes, which are much noisier and pollute more. As we are aware of our responsibility, our resources have been invested in the connections where we are competitive and where we carry more passengers you prefer the quicker and more sustainable way to travel.

Report

2012 saw huge economic difficulties for the company with severe spending restrictions, much higher unemployment and labour unrest. CP, nevertheless, continued providing unquestionable public mobility service for society by creating value for the environment while also paying attention to its social responsibility as it continued along the track of sustainable equilibrium of its operations. – Manuel Tomás Cortez Rodrigues Queiró -  President of the Board of Directors.

Report

The strategy focussed on continuing to create value for the company, ensuring transport on the lines where there was proven demand for heavy rail transport, maximising the network resources and the electric rolling stock (more economical and environmentally friendlier), while cancelling services with little demand that were clearly inefficient and in a disadvantage compared with alternative means of transport. – José Salomão Coelho Benoliel -  President of the Board of Directors.

Report

CP has ended another period in its long existence of over 150 years, faithful to its commitments to encourage sustainable mobility by providing a service that is higher and higher quality and that meets the market's needs.  – José Salomão Coelho Benoliel -  President of the Board of Directors.
