    13.05.1853             The government signed a contract with Hardy Hislop, Director and representative of the Companhia Central Peninsular dos CFP., to built a railway line from Lisbon to the Spanish border via Santarém.

    24.07.1854             The government signed a contract with the Pares do Reino, Marquês de Ficalho and José Maria Eugénio de Almeida company representatives to build a railway line from Aldeia Galega toVendas Novas, and other lines that may join onto this one.

    1926/1949 – The Great Depression and the 2nd World War

    29.05.1926             The Sul e Sueste railway workers that are organised by their union and a “comité” led by Miguel Correia, bring all passenger and freight transport to a halt. They only gave some assistance to the rebel soldiers.
